Veterans in Focus runs Friday, May 1st to Saturday, May 30th alongside ECHOES, Art on 1st's open call exhibition for May. The gallery is open 11–3 Wednesday through Saturday.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Veterans in Focus is a photography exhibition from participants in the Salem VA Health Care System's Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center. This program supports veterans recovering from mental health challenges, helping them manage symptoms, build supportive connections, uncover personal strengths, and move forward in their lives.
Photography is one of the tools they use to do that. Participants are given prompts to guide their work — photographs that convey an emotion, an experience of hope, a moment worth holding onto. Around 40 of those photographs will be on view and available for purchase throughout the month of May, with all proceeds going directly to the veterans who made them.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we are honored to give this work a place to be seen.
