CALL FOR ARTISTS
DEADLINE AUGUST 19, 2026
2nd Annual
Mindful Making with Textiles
Show opens: SEPTEMBER 4, 2026
TEXTILES — an Open Call Exhibition
This group textiles exhibition invites knitters, crocheters, quilters, weavers, and more to create whatever textile art that moves you!
Celebrate the meditative journey often found in the repetitive process of crafting. This show encourages us to explore our rich traditions of using textiles to create art. These range from wall-bound work, quilts, and linens to wearable art and 3D forms. This exhibition illuminates how these practices honor heritage, serve as pathways to personal growth and positive change, and expand the use of textile as a medium in contemporary art practice.
Opening Reception: Friday, September 4, 5:00–8:00 PM
Submission Deadline: August 19, 2026
As part of Art On 1st’s ongoing series of open-call exhibitions, this exhibition aims to showcase emerging and established artists together, providing collectors a fresh perspective on art in Roanoke, Virginia. Featured artists come from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels.
Entries MUST be made here on our website. No work will be accepted past the deadline. All artwork must be listed for sale and Art On 1st requires a 30% commission on all sales.
Art on 1st is committed to remaining a vital, accessible space for artists and the community we serve. These fees help us cover the real costs of running each exhibition and keep this space sustainable for years to come.
We never want cost to be a barrier. If you need support, please check the financial support box on your entry form when submitting.
Please remember this is a curated show and space is limited. Some entries may not be accepted, but we encourage everyone to keep an eye on our website, Instagram, and Facebook for future opportunities. All entry fees are nonrefundable.
